Terms of Service

Effective October 20, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and SlashLog ("we", "us"). They cover your use of slashlog.dev and the SlashLog service. If you use SlashLog for a company, you agree to them for that company and confirm you may do so. By creating an account or using the service, you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy.

SlashLog ("we", "us", "our") is a log management service based in San Francisco, California, USA. Contact: support@slashlog.dev.

1. Your account

  • You must be at least 13, and old enough where you live to enter this agreement (or have a parent's or guardian's permission).
  • Give us accurate information and keep your sign-in, passwords and ingest tokens secure.
  • You're responsible for what happens in your account, including what the members you invite do. Tell us at support@slashlog.dev if you think someone has accessed your account without permission.

2. Plans and billing

  • Prices and limits for each plan are on our pricing page. Prices are in US dollars and exclude taxes, which we add where required.
  • Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, and renew automatically on the date you signed up for the plan until you cancel. Payments are processed by Stripe.
  • Each paid plan includes a monthly volume. On the Billing page you choose what happens when it's used up: ask first (the default: overage pauses until the account owner allows it for that billing period), allow overage, or stop at the included volume. Overage you allow is billed at the plan's overage rate on your next renewal invoice, up to the included amount again, so you never pay for more than twice the plan's volume in a billing period. While overage is paused, off or used up, we keep a sample of your logs (currently 1 in 10) until the period renews; every log is still counted, and logs kept by sampling are not billed. Each plan also has a rate limit; logs sent faster are refused with a signal to retry and are not counted. Logs your noise rules drop are not counted. We may temporarily limit ingestion that threatens the stability of the service, and will tell you when we do.
  • You can upgrade, downgrade or switch between monthly and yearly billing in the app at any time. Upgrades apply right away and are charged right away; downgrades apply at your next renewal.
  • We may change prices. We'll tell account owners by email at least 30 days before a new price applies to them, and it starts at their next renewal after that.
  • If a payment fails and isn't fixed, we may move the account to the Free plan or suspend it.

3. Cancelling and refunds

You can cancel at any time in the app; you never need to contact us. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, then the account moves to the Free plan. Payments are not refunded, including for partly used periods, except where the law requires a refund. When an account moves to a lower plan, logs older than that plan's retention are deleted, and rules beyond its limit keep working but you can't add new ones.

4. The Free plan

The Free plan costs nothing and has the limits shown on the pricing page. We may change those limits or end the Free plan, with at least 30 days' notice by email.

5. Your data

  • Your logs and other content you send us stay yours. You give us permission to store, process and display them only to provide the service to you, as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • You're responsible for having the right to send us your logs, including any personal information about other people in them. Masking helps, but it may not catch everything. Don't send data that needs special legal protection (for example, health records covered by HIPAA or full payment card data) unless we've agreed to it in writing.
  • Logs are deleted after your plan's retention period. SlashLog is not a backup service.

6. Acceptable use

Don't use SlashLog to:

  • break the law or infringe anyone's rights;
  • send malware, or content you have no right to send;
  • try to get into other accounts or our systems, test our security without our written permission, or get around plan limits or rate limits;
  • overload or disrupt the service, or resell it without our written permission.

7. Availability and changes

We work to keep SlashLog running and your data safe, but we don't promise the service will always be available or error-free, and we don't offer an uptime guarantee. We may change or improve features. If we remove a feature that a paid plan includes, we'll tell account owners in advance.

8. Suspension and termination

You can stop using SlashLog and delete your account at any time. Deleting a workspace or your account takes effect 30 days later, and you can cancel it until then (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts the service or other users at risk, or doesn't pay. Where we reasonably can, we'll warn you first and give you time to fix the problem. If we stop offering SlashLog altogether, we'll give at least 30 days' notice and refund any prepaid time you can't use.

9. Disclaimers

Except as these terms say, SlashLog is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the extent the law allows.

10. Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data. Our total liability for any claim about SlashLog is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

11. Indemnity

If someone makes a claim against us because of data you sent us or your breach of these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim, to the extent the law allows.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be heard in the state or federal courts in San Francisco County, California, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring them there.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll update the date above and, for significant changes, email account owners at least 30 days before they take effect. If you keep using SlashLog after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, you can cancel.

14. Text messages (SMS)

If you add your mobile number to get alerts by text message, SlashLog texts you a one-time code to confirm the number, then the alerts you or your workspace set up to go to it. You choose this in the dashboard; agreeing to texts is not a condition of any purchase.

  • Message frequency varies with your alerts.
  • Message and data rates may apply for messages we send you and you send us.
  • Text HELP for help. Text STOP to cancel: we confirm, and send nothing more to that number unless you add it again. You can also remove the number in the dashboard at any time.
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • For questions about your text or data plan, contact your wireless provider.
  • For questions about SlashLog's texts, email support@slashlog.dev.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your number.

15. Services you connect

You can connect SlashLog to services you use, such as Slack or Discord (to get alerts in a channel) or your own storage bucket (for the raw archive). Those services are run by other companies under their own terms and privacy policies, which apply to your use of them; we aren't responsible for their availability or for what they do with data once it reaches them. When you connect one, you confirm you're allowed to, and we use the access you give only to do what you set up (for example, posting your alerts to the channel you picked). You can disconnect at any time in SlashLog or in the other service. Our Privacy Policy explains what we keep from each connection.
